The company is opening a competitive bidding process for new wind and solar projects in Michigan
DETROIT, January 20, 2023 — DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE) today announced that it is seeking renewable energy projects totaling up to 850 megawatts as part of continued demand for the company’s MIGreenPower program and DTE Electric’s CleanVision Integrated Resource Plan (IRP). The CleanVision IRP outlines the company’s plans to invest in a cleaner energy future, including the addition of more than 15,000 megawatts of renewables and an additional 1,800 megawatts of storage by 2042.
To support this clean energy transformation, DTE is issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for new wind and solar projects. Approximately 300 megawatts of projects must be ready to achieve commercial operation by March 31, 2025, and approximately 550 megawatts of projects must be ready to achieve commercial operation by March 31, 2026. Projects must be located in Michigan and interconnected to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) or distribution level transmission. Interested bidders should register their company information on the PowerAdvocate website and, once registered, can attend a pre-RFP conference being held on January 31, 2023. Bids are due April 21, 2023, and the company anticipates executing contracts this Fall.
“At DTE, we are committed to transitioning Michigan to cleaner energy sources and reducing our impact on the environment,” said Brian Calka, vice president, Renewable Sales and Project Development. “As the state’s leading producer of and investor in renewable energy, we are committed to continued growth in our renewable energy portfolio to meet customer demand and to help achieve our company’s carbon emissions reduction goals.”
DTE currently has 18 wind parks and 33 solar parks throughout Michigan generating enough clean energy to power nearly 700,000 homes. By 2025, the company plans to invest an additional $2.8 billion in renewable energy assets, developing a portfolio that will generate enough clean energy to power more than one million homes.
