New report: DTE Energy’s customers will save $418 million by taking advantage of the company’s 2022 Energy Efficiency
Expanded programs help all customers maximize energy savings, including those in greatest need
DETROIT, Oct. 17, 2023 – DTE Energy customers taking advantage of the company’s energy efficiency programs are reducing energy use and seeing lower bills. In fact, in 2022, residential and business customers will save $418 million in energy bills as reported in the 2022 DTE Energy Efficiency Annual Report.
DTE programs are designed to help reduce energy use by increasing customer awareness of products and technologies and available rebates. In 2022 alone, more than 1.8 million residential customers saved millions of dollars in energy costs and nearly 500,000 business customers took advantage of savings to improve their bottom line.
Supporting customers most in need
Recently, DTE was named a Top Five energy company in the nation for energy efficiency savings by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. The ACEEE scorecard ranks companies on their performance, policies and programs with a focus on supporting those most in need. In 2022, DTE invested more than $50 million in income-qualified programs to help improve the comfort of customers’ homes.
The Energy Efficiency Assistance program provides energy-efficient home upgrades or replacements at no cost to the customer and is delivered through more than 30 nonprofit organizations and community action agencies. The energy-efficient products installed included heating system tune-ups or replacements, high-efficiency water heaters, energy-efficient refrigerators, energy-efficient lighting and home weatherization services.
“DTE has increased energy efficiency programs and spending for our income-qualified customers,” said John Boladian, director of energy efficiency at DTE. “We continue to develop and expand our program offerings to help our customers improve the efficiency of their homes and lower their energy costs.”
For example, DTE partnered with the Detroit Home Repair Fund to provide resources to holistically address Detroit housing stability by leveraging multiple home repair resources at once.
