LUMENE has gained recognition at Sustainable Beauty Awards, aiming to push boundaries of sustainability in the beauty industry.

The 2022 Sustainable Beauty Awards ceremony organized by Ecovia Intelligence, was held in Paris on Monday 7th November. LUMENE was among the finalists in three categories: sustainability pioneer, sustainability leadership and sustainable packaging. 

LUMENE was awarded in the sustainable packaging category with a Runner-up award for its innovative Compact Powder pack that is now recyclable, reusable, made from recycled materials and reducing packaging materials by 30%. The pack has been developed in collaboration with a global cosmetics packaging manufacturer TOLY.

The new compact is refillable and recyclable due to its extractable mirror. Apart from this, it is made from polypropylene and has a 50% post-consumer recycled content. TOLY Products and LUMENE worked hand in hand creating this product in a number of different colours and designs.

LUMENE has a fully comprehensive approach towards the circular economy. The goal is to create a sustainable front runner product portfolio in accordance with circular economy principles. 

"Circularity guides our way forward and we follow the 4 Rs of sustainable packaging development. During the year we also launched refills to compact powders to further support the circularity aspect", says Essi Arola, Head of R&D, Packaging and Sustainability.

“Our work towards even more sustainable packaging continues, and the 2nd generation of the refill packaging is to be launched in the near future”, reveals Kerttu Lehtoranta, R&D Manager, Packaging.
